At the bridge of the failed painter, I stoop and check the sagging timbers before placing one foot, then the other, on this sorry decrepitude. It cracks and pops like a first fleet ship, but the sounds are not ominous; more the rattled wheezing of an invalid friend. I proceed with care, sucking the thumb pricked on its splintery balustrade. Ahead, lies the gate and welltrod path and, branching like spider veins, the merest hints of tracks―overgrown, leading to a wilderness filled with possibilities. I stand and consider. Buttoning my duffel coat—a veteran of the moth wars, I step off the path, and into the weeds.

I'm SO over the advertising hype surrounding easter, xmas, mother's days, father's day, dead uncle bob's day!
Nowhere it seems; is free of lurid signs and symbols.

Ain't that the truth. Inescapable commercial messages litter our world. Do they actually think a huge billboard advertising Shreddies is going to make us run our and make a purchase?

and I am so over all the trash that litters all over God's green acres that is also nothing but advertising...we were in the middle of nowhere yesterday and there tossed out of a car window was a coffee cup from Tim Hortons!

I agree. Do you suppose it happened way back then. This way for your crusification tickets. Want rotten fruit? We have the best available. Don't believe in ressurection? We still have front seats avaiable. Buy a coke and fries and get a free commandment.

People go on about graffiti, but I find all the billboards, signs and commercial ads left right and center a visual assault with no merit other than FUGLY>

Hi LM, at least graffiti is interesting!

I want my life to swallowed up by lurid signs and hyper hype, so that all remnants of my true self are flagellated into remission. Then and only then will I acheive my true calling in life - an artist of no merit.
