At the bridge of the failed painter, I stoop and check the sagging timbers before placing one foot, then the other, on this sorry decrepitude. It cracks and pops like a first fleet ship, but the sounds are not ominous; more the rattled wheezing of an invalid friend. I proceed with care, sucking the thumb pricked on its splintery balustrade. Ahead, lies the gate and welltrod path and, branching like spider veins, the merest hints of tracks―overgrown, leading to a wilderness filled with possibilities. I stand and consider. Buttoning my duffel coat—a veteran of the moth wars, I step off the path, and into the weeds.

flights of fancy in Kathmandu

I posted a poem that I wrote in Nepal last year, today it's a few more photos...all taken a few minutes apart.
I was busy trying to get a few shots of the whirling  clouds and congregations of Kathmandu's pigeons when a street boy--more numerous than even the pigeons; stood directly in front of my lens, I smiled and took the photo not expecting much. A few months later and I realised that I caught more than I bargained for.

Wow that first photo is stunning. And then they just get more and more provacative...to the point that I am stunned that those poor little blighters have such a life.

thanks for sharing and helping me to realize just how lucky I am.

FAbulous photographs Loretta, they give me the same sense that I got seeing Steve McCurry Photography at http://www.palmermuseum.psu.edu/

I am filled with wonder looking at them, visually and culturally speaking.

First I never knew cattle would graze on pigeons. Fascinating.
All the photos are so beautifully done. The last really tugs at the heart.

Thanks CA...I suppose its a reality check for me too. I should quit bitching about things and just get on with it.
Thankyou as well Jafabrit; however my stuff's not even close to the incredible works by Steven McCurry. Also; I almost never take photos with an end result in mind. I'm increasingly becoming somewhat anti-art maybe I'll qualify as a dadaist soon.
And Michael, it does appear that they are monster cows about to munch the little pigeon people. You know I didn't even see the pigeon shadow until recently. I was both shocked at the numbers of children asleep on any warm patch of pavement and shooting sort of blind through the eyepiece for once. My eyesight is abysmal and I had to conserve my battery by not resorting to liveview.

They may not compare to Steven McCurry, but they give me a similar feel when looking at them. I think you may be underestimating your photography and artists eye in what you choose to photograph and how. okay lecture over.
I am so in agreement about anti art. Not sure why, but there it is.

peer support is much better than pier support jafabrit; and despite my bad puns--I always do this when I'm embarrassed; I really do apreciate the time you take to look and comment. I have always had a hit or miss approach to everything I do, because the small successes inevitably are the result of giving over. If I dare to control all is lost.
